ХОЛЛ, М. Первые банкиры по генуэзским нотариальным книгам. Неизданные книги генуэзских нотариусов (1155 - 1216) показывают процесс превращения генуэзских менял в банкиров в конце XII и начале XIII вв. путем заимствования и присвоения ими выработанной купцами техники вексельных и кредитных операций (тесная связь между торговцем товарами и ссудчиками денег) и самостоятельного развития депозитных сделок. Депозит (а некредит, как думает Саню) - важнейший фактор в ранней истории банков.
