May 20, 2013 marks the 80th anniversary of the chief researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the History Department of the journal "Vostok (Oriens)", Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Alexandrovich Tyurin.
It would seem that only yesterday at the Institute, which is associated with the best years of the hero's life and work, we celebrated his 75th birthday... But five years have already passed - five years filled with all sorts of events. Vladimir Alexandrovich's excellent fundamental monograph " The History of Malaysia. XX century" (Moscow, IV RAS, 2010), written together with the recently deceased V. A. Tsyganov, and the fascinating, exciting "Book for reading on Russian History (in two parts)" (Moscow: Vostochny University, 2008), which combines two seemingly incompatible, but at first glance In fact, the life of the Black Sea region and the Volga-Don interfluve from the Scythians to the Khazars is equally turbulent, as are the bizarre palace intrigues in the Russian Empire of the XVIII century.
In both monographs, Vladimir Alexandrovich managed to create memorable pictures of the historical life of different peoples: Malays, Malaysian Chinese and Indians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Greeks, Huns, Goths, Khazars, Russians and Germans... From the pages of books, it is as if people of those irrevocably gone times are looking at the reader.
Vladimir Alexandrovich does not stop teaching at the Institute of Oriental Countries (formerly the Eastern University), the Academy of Retraining of Art, Culture and Tourism Workers, and the Moscow University for the Humanities. His lectures, as always, are full of inner fire and strictly scientific imagination, giving rise to a genuine, lifelong interest in the science of history. Under the guidance of Vladimir Alexandrovich, many students wrote their theses, with whom he always generously shares his experience, inexhaustible love for life and the main treasure that a person has - his time. He is one of the few people from whom you can learn love and joy from every second of your life.
We wish Vladimir Alexandrovich good health, long life and new scientific achievements!
