The Kalmyk Institute for Humanities Research (KIGI RAS) held an international scientific conference on "Mongolian Studies at the Beginning of the XXI Century" in Elista on April 25-26, 2015 in cooperation with the Kalmyk State University (KSU) .: current state and prospects of development", dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the oldest employee of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences B. Kh. Todaeva (1915-2014).
The conference was attended by scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Gorno-Altaisk, Irkutsk, Karabulak, Kyzyl, Syktyvkar, Ulan-Ude, Ufa, Chita and Yakutsk. The organizing committee of the conference received a significant number of reports and reports from far and near abroad, indicating the relevance of the problems of modern Mongolian philology and Altaistics. There were many absentee participants from the cities of Hohhot (Inner Mongolia, China), Urumqi (XUAR), Ulaanbaatar and Kobdo (Mongolia), Karakol (Kyrgyzstan) and Sapporo (Japan).
N. G. Ochirova, Director of KIGI RAS, A. M. Orlov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia (RK), A. V. Kozachko, Chairman of the People's Hural of the RK, and N. G. Mantsaev, Minister of Education and Science of the RK, delivered welcoming speeches .
Seven reports were presented at the plenary session. N. G. Ochirova, in her report "The life and work of the Mongolian scholar B. Kh. Todayeva," spoke about B. Kh. Todayeva's great contribution to Mongolian and Kalmyk philology. G. Ts . Pyurbeev (Institute of Foreign Languages of the Russian Academy of Sciences) conducted a comparative analysis of epic phraseology in the Kalmyk and Xinjiang-Oirat versions of "Jangara" based on the materials of its nominal and verbal forms. V. I. Rassadin (KSU) highlighted the genesis of Mongolian camel breeding terms in the Khalkha-Mongolian language. D. Borjigid (Hohhot, China) made a report " On the study of the Oirat dialect consisting of Khoshut and Torgut dialects in the Alashan aimag. The topic of D. A. Suseeva's speech (KSU) is the language of business papers. N. Tatishchev (1686-1750), who was in 1741-1745 the head of the Kalmyk commission under the Board of Foreign Affairs and the Astrakhan governor based on the materials of the National Archive of the Republic of Kalmykia. Noting the talent of the organizer and diplomat V. N. Tatishchev, she analyzed a number of letters and complaints from khans and noyons who addressed him on controversial issues. The epistolary legacy of this well-known public figure is now invaluable not only in historical and political terms, but also in linguistic and cultural terms.
Basangova-Borzhanova G. T. (KIGI RAS) in her report "Folklore of Mongolian peoples recorded by B. Kh. Todayeva" noted the richness and diversity of oral-poetic works of Kalmyks and Mongols of Inner Mongolia collected by B. Kh. Todayeva, published in her latest works [Todayeva, 1973, 1981, 1985]. E. U. Omakaev (KIGI RAS) in his report "Linguistic problems in the works of B. Kh. Todaeva" on the basis of extensive factual material showed the theoretical and practical significance of the linguistics heritage of the scientist, whose works are in demand by modern linguists-Mongol scholars.
Section "Comparative typological and comparative typological studies of Mongolian and Turkic languages".
In the joint report of L. B. Badmaeva and L. D. Shagdarov (IMBT SB RAS, Ulan-Ude) " The Chronicle of Dr. Lombotsyrenova as a monument of verbal culture of Buryats", where the features of the chronicle language were analyzed on the basis of linguistics and grammar of the text. A. B. Lidzhiev and E. V. Bembeev (KIGI RAS) spoke about the current state of the Shira-Yugur language according to a linguistic expedition conducted in 2004 in their habitats. The language situation in the Shara Tala tract was studied ("Yellow Steppe"), located 90 km from the town of Uvey, where the Shira-Yugurs live. They are divided into western blacks and eastern yellows. The authors determined the population size, analyzed the language of aphoristic poetry, folk and labor songs of this ethnic group. N. Ch. Ochirova and S. A. Bachaeva (KIGI RAS) studied descriptions of Oirat Buddhist manuscripts by Russian and Kalmyk scientists. (KSU) review-
The author considers the genre peculiarity of correspondence between Kalmyk khans and their contemporaries (XVIII century) and higher authorities. The author divided the terminology of the Khans 'correspondence of that time by style into general Mongolian and Kalmyk, which were clearly influenced by Russian clerical work. P. P. Dambueva (INR RAS) read a short message" Metaphor in the Mongolian dictionary "Muqaddimat al-Adab". S. E. Bachaeva (KIGI RAS) in the report" Grammatical and stylistic litters in the Mongolian language". "Explanatory dictionary of the language of the Kalmyk heroic epic Jangar "" considered relevant for lexicography conditional entries of practical significance.
Section "Folklore and literature in ideology cultures".

Todayeva as a source of studying the fund of epic constants" found out the authenticity of the translation of words from the text in the "clear letter" to the Cyrillic alphabet.: "Time in Kalmyk folklore: based on the epic "Jangar" "revealed the motivation of the characters, noted the ways of plotting the artistic fabric in fairy tales that have become an organic part of the architectonics of the epic "Jangar". D. N. Muzraeva (KIGI RAS) turned to the study of bilingual Buddhist works based on the material of multilingual texts "Subhashita" from the archive of KIGI RAS Topalova D. . (KIGI RAS) analyzed the short story "The Trampled Tulip" by the Kalmyk writer-emigrant S. Balykov, whose work arouses the interest of modern Kalmyks Ochirova (KIGI RAS) reviewed G. Davaev's poem "Altma". N. Ochirova considers it a classic of Kalmyk fiction.
Section "Cultural heritage peoples Eurasia".
Bakaeva M. E. (KIGI RAS) in her report "On the problem of studying the composition of Oirat ethnic groups and Turkic-Mongolian interrelations" investigated the ethnogenesis of the Mongolian and Turkic peoples, the history of their formation and migration mixing of these tribes over a long period of development. I. V. Rassadin (IMBT SB RAS) made a report on the state of spiritual culture and religion of the Tofalars in the at the present stage. Post-graduate student of the Mongolian State Pedagogical University N. Naranzhargal highlighted the history of Mongolian-Kalmyk relations in the period from 1990 to 2010. S. G. Batyreva (KIGI RAS) spoke about the process of cataloging the fund of a unique historical and cultural museum through the introduction of information and communication technologies, computerization. G. E. Tyumbeeva (Elista) made a presentation on " The national picture of the world in P. O. Chonkushov's opera-ballet "Dzhangar".
Within the framework of the conference, a round table "Problems of preserving the native language" was held . The development of the national language in Kalmykia is of great importance for the preservation of the ethnic group. L. V. Namrueva (KIGI RAS) in her report "Language assimilation and problems of ethnic identity" based on the results of surveys conducted in the 2000s in Kalmykia noted such a negative phenomenon as the acculturation of the Kalmyk people. S. M. Trofimova and V. I. Rassadin (KSU) made a report "On some shortcomings of the current Kalmyk orthography, which spoke about the need for its reform. V. V. Kukanova (KIGI RAS) spoke about the work on the creation of the "Kalmyk Language Frequency Dictionary: orthography and abbreviations". A. B. Imkenova (KSU) devoted her report to the problem of the revival of the Kalmyk language and concluded that in order to preserve the national language in the conditions of inculturation, bilingualism is advisable. O. G. Tseren-Ubushieva (Classical Gymnasium) presented the report "Formation of students' communication skills in the framework of a continuous learning system (on the example of secondary classes)".
